‘Häxan’, Digital Sculpture.

‘Häxan’, investigates themes of Witchcraft by presenting a layered image proposing this concept as a ‘projected’ and ‘performative’ construct. This work is intended not to reproduce socio-historical narrative conditions but rather reveal the underlying systems for contemplation.

Frequently we see modern computer generated imagery predicated on it’s authenticity, striving constantly to imitate reality, simulate alternate realities and attempting to seamlessly assimilate with the ‘real’. Here instead these ideals are rejected and undermined, shattering the visual experience and forcing an audience to grapple with the obvious and enduring fiction of the depiction focusing us instead on it’s performative codes and the historical system of projected realities.

‘Häxan’ was published in Fair is Foul, Bunny Collective 2017.
